Shah Rukh Khan : The Universally Loved Khan

Bollywood Superstar Shah Rukh Khan is back to doing what he does best . Setting the Big- screen  on fire .  After four-year   absence where his last film was Aanand L. Rai directed Zero ( 2018) and before thatthe poor Box -office returns of Imtiaz Ali’s Jab Harry Met Sejal ( 2017) many though the King Khan had lost his magic touch .

But none to give up and give the Gen-next easy route to the top , SRK bounced back in stupendous fashion with Siddharth Anand’s slickly directed Spy thriller Pathaan( 2023) . Starring opposite lissome and sexy looking Deepika Padukone, the duo set screen ablaze with their chemistry . With John Abraham playing the antagonist with perfection. the film was Blockbuster in the Box- Office . The King Khan was back .

More the humungous Box- office collection of the film, what drew the audience to the film including this writer was the fantastic transformation of SRK . From a romantic hero in many a Karan Johar film’s Pathaan presented SRK as a action hero – with ripped abs and toned body, SRK packed the punches and the audience were trilled to see his new avatar.

His dialogue delivery sent his ardent fans into crescendo – Party Pathaan ke ghar pe rakhoge toh mehman nawazi ke liye Pathaan toh aayega aur patake bhi layega.” Another dialogue which  had become a rage was – “Apni kursi ki peti baand lo, mausam bighadne wala hai.”

His new action avatar raised the curiosity level of his next film in 2023 Jawan. Directed by Atlee , SRK once again stormed the Box- office with yet another magnum opus . Here too SRK had the fans  on the edge of their seat with his power dialogues – “Jab main VILLAIN banta hun na toh mere saamne koi bhi HERO tik nahi sakta.” And followed by “Bete ko hath lagaane se pehle BAAP se baat kar.”. The film was a mass entertainer. And a winner all the  way

During the course of the film his son Aryan was arrested by NCB on drug possession charges and spent a month in jail. The Superstar admitted the trying times his family and gone through during that period while accepting the Best actor award trophy at IIFA 2024 in Dubai.

Critics who  had written off SRK were forced to  acknowledge  his enduring charism and  his Box- office prowess.   And  SRK finished the year 2023 on dream note starring in yet another fine film Dunki directed by Rajkumar Hirani .  His sensitive role in the film endeared all. With three mega hits under his kitty , SRK had all the reason to smile .

The good run at the Box- office   in 2023  rolled into 2024  as his  IPL franchise co- owned team Kolkata Knight Riders won their third IPL in 2024 . Having won earlier in 2012, 2014.  So for the King Khan the winning run continued .

SRK will turn 59  on November 2, 2024  and going by his  fabulous come-back in his new  image on screen , his ardent fans are now eagerly awaiting his next movie.

Lastly, And even when is not on the big- screen , SRK remains an enduring icon  and his fan following is steady. The cite of fans waiting outside his house Mannat for glimpse of him after Eid and on his birthday testify power SRK commands and how much he is loved all over the world making him truly a  universally loved Khan.
