Congress president Rahul Gandhi is set for a two-day UK visit next week . The overseas Congress Chairman Sam Pitroda confirmed the news with series of tweets on Twitter.

He tweeted, “Because of the high demand from NRIs and political, business, academia, Intellectuals and media in EU and UK, President of the @INCIndia Indian National Congress Mr. @RahulGandhi will be visiting Germany on Aug 22 & 23rd and London on Aug 24 & 25th.”

It is expected that Gandhi scion will be addressing large public event and interact with students and media. In the series of tweets, Pitroda tweeted, “It is believed that people abroad are very interested in listening to Mr. @RahulGandhi on the economy, employment, demonetization, security, developments and overall performance of the government and future obstacles, opportunities and challenges in India.”

Pitroda came down heavily on reports about the cancellation Rahul Gandhi’s UK tour in a tweet. He termed them as misinformation campaign.

The aim of the event is to promote dynamic and unbiased discussions on issues facing contemporary India as well as the opportunities India presents, said Sanam Arora, Chair of NISAU UK. “Our Townhall intends to bring together visionary leaders and do-ers, students, young professionals, academics and researchers in India and the UK for healthy and action-oriented discussion, debate and dissent,” she said.

The Indian Journalists’ Association (IJA) in the UK is also set to host a working lunch with Gandhi during the short visit.

The tour to Germany and UK comes at a time when events in Turkey and free fall of Lira are getting global attention on the type and style of leadership and its impact on social, political and economic fabric of a country, said Sam Pitroda.
