Two Congress chief Ministers after been voted to power Kamal Nath in Madhya Pradesh and Bhupesh Baghel in Chhattisgarh had waived off the loans to farmers soon after assuming office and living up to their poll promises in their manifesto.
Madhya Pradesh Chief Kamal Nath waived farm loans of Rs 2 lakh as promised at the time of elections, shortly after he took oath as the chief minister. It was promised to be done within 10 days of coming to power.
Addressing the media after his swearing-in ceremony, Baghel reportedly said, “Congress President Rahul Gandhi had announced that farm loans will be waived within 10 days and that Minimum Support Price (MSP) for maize will be increased to Rs 2500 from Rs 1700 per quintal. These two decisions have been taken today.”
