PV Sindhu Loses Yet Another Final, ‘Chokers’ Word Might Get Attached With Her Name
India’s badminton star PV Sindhu’s hopes of Gold medal at the World Badminton Championships were once again dashed. In a much awited clash Sindhu had to settle for Silver as she was outclassed by the gritty and determined Spaniard Spain’s Carolina Marin 21- 19, 21-10.
Marin’s grit and never say die attitude reminded fans of the similar attribute shown on court by fellow countryman Spaniard great tennis superstar – Rafael Nadal.
The aggressive Marin is now the reigning World and Olympic champion thanks to an imperious win in Nanjing. The all-action 25-year-old adds the 2018 crown to her titles in 2014 and 2015, and the Olympic gold she won from the unlucky Sindhu at Rio 2016. Spaniard also became the first woman to win three badminton World titles
In fact, since 2016 Sindhu has made 13 appearances in summit clashes and lost nine of them. Her latest loss in finals is not new. It has happened regularly in the past. Which makes one wonder why she chokes when it matters most. By choking one with a blink of an eye connects or recalls the South African cricket team, known to choke in big events. Hope this curse has not hit Sindhu .
