National Felicitation Of Kayakalp Awardees By Dr Harsh Vardhan
Ministry of Health And Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India had launched a national initiative “KAYAKALP” in 2015 to promote cleanliness and enhance the quality of public health facilities. The purpose of this initiative is to appreciate and recognise their effort to create a healthy environment.
Ministry had entrusted with and commissioned QCI to conduct these assessments in private healthcare institutions in 2019-20. QCI/NABH did a comparative analysis of each element of the Kayakalp standard with the clauses in NABH accreditation standards and found that match exists for nearly 90 percent elements for accreditation standard and for 70 percent for entry-level certification standards.
The parameters on which the performance of the facility will be assessed were: Hospital/Facility Upkeep, Sanitation and Hygiene, Waste Management, Infection Control, Support Services, Hygiene Promotion and we are proud to share that 635 private healthcare institutions were certified successfully after they fulfilled the set criteria.
Speaking at the occasion Dr. Harsh Vardhan, Union Minister of Health & Family Welfare lauded the achievements of private hospitals. He further added “hospitals should consult Media and tell them about their achievements, success stories and highlight the role Kayakalp had played so as to inspire other healthcare organisations to follow it.” He also thanked Dr. B K Rao, Chairman, NABH and his team for their efforts in certifying so many healthcare organisations through Kayakalp.
Ashwini Kumar Choubey, Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare said “Kayakalp itself means complete transformation which is seen everywhere through improved healthcare services. “ He also highlighted the efforts of QCI/NABH in this endeavour.
