#MissionShakti : India Becomes World’s Fourth Space Power Announces Prime Minister Narendra Modi

Just few days before the country goes to  the 2019 Lok Sabha polls on April 11, first phase, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation and made an important announcement.

Modi in his address said : “On March 27, India achieved a historic feat. Today, India registered itself as a space power. Till now, three countries of the world- America, Russia, & China had this achievement. India is now the 4th country to have achieved this feat.”

PM Modi announced that India has entered its name as an elite space power. An anti-satellite weapon A-SAT, successfully targeted a live satellite on a low earth orbit. He further said that ‘Mission Shakti’ operation was a difficult target to achieve, but was completed successfully within three minutes of launch.

““I want to tell the world that this new capability that we have acquired will not be used against anyone. This is purely for India’s security… In doing so, we have not violated any principle of international law,” Modi further said.

‘Mission Shakti’ is an important step towards securing India’s safety, economic growth and technological advancement.

With the success of Mission Shakti, today India has enough satellites that are contributing in various segments such as agriculture, disaster management, communication, weather, navigation etc
