Mandatory For All Government Employees To Have Aarogyasetu App On Their Phones

The Government of India has made it compulsory for all its staff including outsourced staff working in the central government to download the Aarogyasetu App on their phones with immediate effect.

A memo sent by the Personnel Ministry says that before staff leave for office, they must review their status on the app and commute only when the app shows its safe to do so.

However, if the app shows a message that the user/employee is at moderate or high risk on the basis of his or her location to a COVID infected person or recent contact with an infected person, the staffer should self isolate for 14 days.

Aarogya Setu, is a mobile app developed by the ministry of electronics and IT to help citizens identify their risk of contracting Covid-19 has notched up more than 10 million downloads since its launch five days ago.

The app is there on both Google Play (for Android phones) and Apple App Store (for ioS). It is available in 11 languages 10 Indian languages and English.

Aarogya Setu is designed to keep an user informed in case s/he has crossed paths with someone who has tested positive. The tracking is done through a Bluetooth & location-generated social graph, which can show your interaction with anyone who has tested positive.
