Madhya Pradesh assembly elections 2018 had literally gone down to the wire. It was simply too close to call. The swing in trends for both BJP and Congress meant that one could not predict which the wind is blowing. In the end, it seems in this thriller Congress has come out on top.

The party now finishes 2018 on a high winning three Hindi belt states – Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.

It was like a T20 match in cricket, the winner getting victory off the last ball . Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan was battling ant- incumbency . Chouhan is looking for a fourth consecutive term in office while Congress is hoping for a resurgence in the heartland state ahead of the 2019 election.

What has tilted the things in Congress favour this time around is the first time the party presented a united leadership – under PCC chief Kamal Nath, campaign committee chief Jyotiraditya Scindia and the wily former CM Digvijaya Singh .
