#LokSabhaElections2024 : Anurag Thakur Questions Priyanka Gandhi’s Silence On Women Incidents In Cong Ruled States ; But No Comments On Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh’s Charges

Union Minister Anurag Thakur accused Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra of being silent on women harassment incidents in states ruled by her party and its allies.

During a series of election meetings in the Hamirpur parliamentary constituency, Thakur said, “Priyanka Gandhi, who gave the slogan of ‘I am a girl, I can fight,’ does not see the atrocities on mothers and sisters in Sandeshkhali of Bengal.”

He alleged that it was her “vote bank politics” which did not allow her to see the harassment of a woman MP by their colleagues in Delhi.

Thakur however, maintained his consistent silence on Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh . On whom a Delhi court on May 22 framed charges of sexual harassment, intimidation and outraging the modesty of women against ex-Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief and six-time Lok Sabha MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh in a criminal case filed by female wrestlers.

Brij Bhushan Singh pleaded not guilty to the charges and claimed trial.

“Why will I plead guilty when I am not guilty?” Brij Bhushan Singh told Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (ACMM) Priyanka Rajpoot.

The court framed the charges against Singh under IPC sections 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty), 354A (sexual harassment) and 506 (criminal intimidation).

“There is sufficient evidence to frame charges against the accused,” the judge said.
