IPL 2018 : Sunrisers Hyderabad Shock Mumbai Indians In a Low Scoring Encounter
Sunrisers Hyderabad produced a brilliant bowling performance as they defended a paltry target of 118 to shock Mumbai Indians by 31 runs in front of the packed crowd at Wankhede. The victory, the fourth for the Sunrisers, lifted them to the third spot on the table while MI re in the seventh spot with just two points from six games.
Asked to bat first after Rohit Sharma had won the toss the Sunrisers had a forgettable outing with the bat as they slumped to 118 in 18.4 overs. Only captain Kane Williamson (29 with 5 fours), Yusuf Pathan (29) were the main scorers for the Sunrisers. For Mumbai , Mitchell McClenaghan, Hardik Pandya and Mayank Markhande picked up two wickets to bowl out the Sunrisers.
Chasing the modest target , Mumbai made a heavy weather Evin Lewis (5), Ishan Kishan (0) and skipper Rohit Sharma (2) fell within the power play. Suddenly the chase was in trouble. Suryakumar Yadav (34 in 38 balls) and Krunal Pandya (24 in 29 balls) tried but fell at crucial times. Kieron Pollard ( 9) Hardik Pandya (3 ) flopped again with the bat.
For Sunrisers , Leg-spinner Rashid Khan, once again was impressive and bagged two wickets along with Basil Thampi while medium pacer Sidharth Kaul grabbed three. In- fact Rashid bowled a sensational maiden 17th over. The big-hitting Hardik Pandya could simply do nothing when confronted with the Afghan teenager’s guile.
Sandeep Sharma, Mohammed Nabi and Shakib Al Hasan took one wicket to pull off a win that stunned the huge Mumbai crowd and silencing them . Mumbai were bowled out for 87 in 18.5 overs handing the Sunrisers a 31 run win.
