Glamour Was At Its Full Swing At DBFW In Goa

Glamour was at its best at the third season of Danj Beach Fashion Week that concluded recently at the Hotel Double Tree by Hilton in Goa. The 3-day fashion extravaganza kicked off with a felicitation of fashion luminaries who have contributed a larger part of their lives to the fashion community. Among the prominent awardees of Danj I Am Fashion Award 2020 included ace fashion designer Rocky S, Manish Tripathi, Rashmi Chabra, Ahmed Ali, DJ Ma Faiza, RD Lal-Chairman IIFT, Ajaz Khan, MTV VJ Benafsha Poonawala, Aman Bhandari for Lacrme, fashion photographer Rony Kaul’s along with fashionable entrepreneur . A fashion preview from the latest collection of designer Rina Dhaka on live models was the highlight of the event.

On the second day of DBFW, the opening show was by popular designer Abhishek Gupta who showcased his collection ‘Benares’ that embodied aesthetic qualities. Using traditional handloom fabrics juxtaposed with fine appliqué, pleating, textures and intricate thread embroidery, each garment was a masterpiece with assiduous craftsmanship, impeccable cut and fine tailoring, finished to invisible detail. The collection, though deeply rooted in tradition transcends every cultural barrier. With artworks that are meticulously engineered to the shape and pattern of the outfit, motifs flow effortlessly over the seams of the garment with flawless continuity that is a rarity.
While, designer Sonia Jetleey showcased ‘Urban Nomad’ collection which was in pure silk chanderi weave which is very Royal ancient weave with references in Vedic age . Sonia Jetleey garments in chanderi fabric with digital printing and hand crafted embroidery done with anchor threads and mirror work detailing to lend a bohemian appeal .

Another prominent designer who showcased his resort line was Sadan Pande. Pande,s collection ‘Ambrosia’ was all about Romanticising with the colors from the tropical forests, silhouettes were flowy and drapy colors are romantic capturing the eyeballs of audiences. The grand finale of DBFW was by designer Manish Tripathi whose title was ‘Bhor – The Advent of Dawn’. The intricate Chikankari craftsmanship exudes simplicity and elegance followed by the translation of the Pichwai prints for the new normal. The Collection embraced new beginnings and reminded us that however long the night, the dawn will break.

The closing celebrations of the third edition of Danj Beach Fashion Week were at the luxury yacht party where celebrity DJ Ma Faiza played live saw designers, models, socialites and fashionistas dancing to glory till the wee hours on the Goa waters.

DBFW that aimed to wash away Pandemic blues and was organiser to fuel a new leash of energy to the already struggling fashion industry.  Dinesh Aneja CEO, DANJ: “ With all the government guidelines that are set for pandemic events, we hosted this event for about 150 invited guests who went through proper scanning at the events. The event provided employment to more then a hundred fashion professionals.”

Mrs Anca Verma of Olialia added: “ We are happy that we were a part of DBFW third season coz Olialia stands for class and luxury and DBFW epitomizes the same.”
