Former Maharashtra Chief Minister And Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi Passes Away At 86 ; Sharad Pawar, Devendra Fadnavis , Ajit Pawar Others Pay Rich Tributes

Former Lok Sabha Speaker Manohar Joshi passed away at a Mumbai hospital on Friday, where he was admitted after suffering a cardiac arrest.

Joshi (86) was admitted to Hinduja Hospital in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) on February 21 and passed away early Friday, the private medical facility said.

Joshi Sir, as he was popularly known, was the first chief minister of the undivided Shiv Sena and held the post during 1995-1999.

He was admitted to the hospital in May last year after suffering a brain haemorrhage.

He was also elected as a member of Parliament and was the Lok Sabha Speaker from 2002 to 2004 when the NDA under Atal Bihari Vajpayee government was in power.
Political leader cutting across party lines paid their rich tributes to Manohar Joshi and lauded his contribution.

Shiv Sena (UBT) Chief and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray told ANI , “It is very unfortunate. Manohar Joshi had seen many ups and downs in his life but he never left Shiv Sena, he always stayed loyal to the party… When Balasaheb Thackeray was arrested, he was one of those arrested with him. His demise is a big loss to the party.”
