First Chief Minister Of Chhattisgarh, Ajit Jogi Passes Away At 74, Leaders Across Party Lines Pay Rich Tributes

After prolonged illness and in hospital for nearly three weeks , the first chief Minister of Chhattisgarh Ajit Jogi passed away at the age of 74. The state was carved out of Madhya Pradesh in year 2000.

Jogi had suffered two cardiac arrests in the past week. His death was confirmed on twitter his son Amit jogi.

Jogi’s  35 year political career  started when he quit IAS  posted in Madhya Pradesh as district Collector  Indore from 1981-1985 to join the Congress party. He  was spotted by then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi .  He left the government service in 1985 and became a Member of Parliament (MP) in Rajya Sabha in 1986. Jogi remained a member of the Upper House till 1998.
