ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
CATHERINE ANN JONES’s connection with India began with her marriage to the novelist Raja Rao who (with Mulk Raj Anand and R K Narayan) helped establish the international reputation of Indian fiction in English. She lived in India for a year as a Fulbright Research Scholar and lives in India for a substantial amount of time each year.
An award-winning author, she has published seven other books. She is also a playwright, screenwriter, writing consultant, and actor, having played major roles in some 55 plays on Broadway and off-Broadway. The films written by her include The Christmas Wife (with Jason Robards and Julie Harris) gained four Emmy nominations, Unlikely Angel (with Dolly Parton) and the popular TV series Touched by an Angel. Twelve of her plays have won awards (including one from the National Endowment for the Arts). These continue to be produced both in and out of New York.
