#CWC23 : Virat Kohli Smashes 49th ODI Ton On Birthday, Ravindra Jadeja Bags Five As India Hammer South Africa By 243 Runs

The Indian juggernaut rolls on powerfully in this CWC23 as they won their eight match of the mega even with some style . In an  encounter at the iconic Eden Gardens in Kolkata  between the two top teams of the table, India hammered South Africa by 243 runs.

This after Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bat first. And the intent from team India was form the start. Skipper Rohit showing the way with flurry of fours to set the tone of the innings . Rohit scored 40 ( 24 balls , 6 fours, 2 sixes), opening partner Shubman Gill was not left behind 23 ( 24 balls, 3 fours, 1 six) before was bowled  by a beauty from Keshav Maharaj.

The birthday boy Virat Kohli, who turned 35, awaited  did not disappoint fans and finally got his much awaited 49th ODI hundred equalling Sachin Tendulkar’s record. It was classic Virat Kohli innings watchful, with aggressive running between wickets and hitting those lovely cover and straight drives with sheer class . Kohli remained unbeaten 101 ( 121 balls, 10 fours).

Shreyas Iyer played an attacking innings 77 ( 87 balls, 7 fours 2 sixes). KL Rahul fell for 8 , Suryakumar Yadav 22 ( 14 balls, 5 fours ) and Ravindra Jadeja gave the innings the finishing touches with 29 ( 15 balls, 3 fours, 1 six). India once again posting an imposing total 365/ 5 in their 50 overs.

South Africa bowling wilted against India : Lungi Ngidi 1/ 63 ( 8. 2 overs) , Marco Jansen 1/ 94 ( 9.4 Overs), Kagiso Rabada 1/ 48 ( 10 overs), Keshav Maharaj 1/ 30 ( 10 overs), Tabraiz Shamsi 1/ 72 ( 10 overs), Aiden Markram0/ 17 ( 2 overs)

Proteas had lost while chasing against Netherlands and barely managing to Beat Pakistan by 1 wicket while chasing so chasing 327 for win against India was a challenge. And they flopped in the challenge miserably – Quinton de Kock ( 5), Skipper Temba Bavuma ( 11), Rassie van der Dussen ( 13), Aiden Markram ( 9), Heinrich Klaasen ( 1), David Miller ( 11) Marco Jansen ( 14 ), Keshav Maharaj ( 7) . Kagiso Rabada ( 6), Lungi Ngidi ( 0), Tabraiz Shamsi not out 4. South Africa bundled out for mere 83 in 27.1 overs

Indian bowlers were in red hot form as they ripped through the Proteas batting . Jasprit Bumrah 0/ 14 ( 5 overs), Mohammed Siraj 1/11 ( 4 overs), Ravindra Jadeja outstanding 5/ 33 ( 9 overs), Mohammed Shami 2/ 18 ( 4 overs), Kuldeep Yadav 2/ 7 ( 5.1 overs)
