COVID Cases Surge : Prime Minister Narendra Modi Holds Meeting With 10 Chief Ministers, Mamata Skips

Prime Minister Modi held a meeting with chief ministers of 10 states with the most number of COVID-19 cases. The meeting via video conferencing comes amid a huge surge in coronavirus cases, which have now clocked a daily total of over 3 lakh in the country.

Chief ministers of Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Delhi are among those who attended the meeting.

Later Modi will hold a meeting with leading oxygen manufacturers in the country via video conference amid concerns expressed by some states that their supply of the life-saving gas is running short with a number of hospitals sending out SOS.

On oxygen supply, PM took note of the points raised by the states. He said there is a continuous effort to increase oxygen supply. All concerned depts & ministries of govt are also working together. Industrial oxygen has also been diverted to meet immediate requirements, said PMO in a statement. Further, PM added that the Ministry of Health is also in touch with the states and is monitoring the situation closely and issuing necessary advice to the states from time to time, Prime Minister’s Office (PMO)

Meanwhile , is is learnt from media reports that West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee skipped the meeting of CMs with Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the COVID-19 situation, sources said. Chief Secretary Alapan Bandyopadhyay represented the state at the review meeting, which was held via video conference, they said.
