COVID-19 : With Death Toll Nearing 50,000, United States Becomes The Worst Hit Country
According to the latest data from Johns Hopkins University, The United states as of now is the worst-hit country, has so far recorded 8,69,172 cases of the virus.
The country which has been ravaged by the virus now has death toll of nearly 50,000, according to reports at the time of filing this report the toll stood at 49,954 . It recorded a shocking 3,176 deaths in the last 24 hours.
Meanwhile , US President Donald Trump is keen to reopen the economy from the COVID-19 impact. It is learnt from media reports that Trump has reportedly indicated that the social distancing other measures might be extended beyond May 1, but forcefully advocated the need to gradually open up the economy that is safe.
In the past few weeks, more than 26 million Americans have filed for unemployment benefits and the figure is soon likely to cross 40 million, as per some estimates. Both the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund have projected a negative growth in the US in 2020.
