Breakthrough Finally : Farmers Call Off Agitation , To Vacate Sites On December 11, After Receiving Letter From Government Promising Committee On MSP

The Samyukt Kisan Morcha has decided to suspend the farmers protest that has been on at Delhi’s borders for more than a year now.

“We have decided to suspend our agitation. We will hold a review meeting on January 15. If the government doesn’t fulfill its promises, we could resume our agitation,” farmer leader Gurnam Singh Charuni announced on Thursday following a meeting of the SKM in Delhi.

Accordingly, protesting farmers will vacate the protest sites on December 11, farmers leader Darshan Pal Singh said.

The farmers’ agitation has been suspended, Samyukt Kisan Morcha to hold a meeting on January 15, farmers leader Balbir Singh Rajewal too announced.

These remarks were made after protesting farmers receive a letter from the Government of India, with promises of forming a committee on minimum support price (MSP) and withdrawing cases against them immediately. ‘As far as the matter of compensation is concerned, UP and Haryana have given in-principle consent,’ it reads.
