Left red-faced and embarrassed the Bharatiya Janata Party in a hurried damage control quickly distanced itself from party leaders Nishikant Dubey’s and Dinesh Sharma’s comments against the judiciary and said the leaders have been warned against making such statements. BJP president J.P. Nadda said the party has always respected the judiciary.

Nadda’s clarification after a massive outrage over BJP MP Nishikant Dubey’s comment when he said accused the apex court of “inciting religious wars” in the country. Terming the SC’s action as “anarchy”, Dubey said, “Supreme Court is responsible for inciting religious wars in the country…If one has to go to the Supreme Court for everything, then Parliament and State Assembly should be shut.”

Dubey had also alleged that CJI Khanna was responsible for “civil wars” in the country.  Sharma, a former deputy chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, was also critical of the Supreme Court, saying no one could direct Parliament or the president.

“The Bharatiya Janata Party has nothing to do with the statements made by BJP MPs Nishikant Dubey and Dinesh Sharma on the judiciary and the Chief Justice of the country. These are their personal statements, but the BJP neither agrees with such statements nor does it ever support such statements,” said Nadda in a post on X, completely rejecting the statements.
